Architectural Overview

The Monitis platform consists of the Central Server, Global Monitoring Network, highly scalable database, remote probe agents, and graphical user interface applications.

 

• The Central Server provides centralized management and data archiving.
• The Global Monitoring Network enables remote monitoring of web services from end-user point of view. Monitoring checkpoints located in all continents and many countries.
• Monitis agents provide internal server and network monitoring within the customer firewalls.

 

The Central Server consolidates performance metrics, configuration and inventory data from Monitis Agents and the Global Monitoring Network. The Central Server detects issues and send alerts. The Server provides API for extending and managing monitoring processes.

The Monitis user interface is a rich, web-based Ajax/html5 dashboard of multiple widget views. The Dashboard is customizable and realtime.

Agents are available for multiple platforms and are small footprint, resource efficient components. They use HTTPS polling for connection with the Central Server, so no changes should be performed on the firewalls. Agents send data to the Central Server.

The key characteristics of Monitis cloud-based architecture:

Scalable. The architecture and infrastructure was tested in free services by more than 60,000 users, and monitoring was provided for over 150,000 sites. 

Multi-tenant. We indeed are using a single instance for all our customers.  It makes us up to 75% faster in terms of new feature delivery to our customers. 

Instant setup. Because it is a hosted application, all setups are fast and painless. Customers don’t need server, don’t need to change firewalls, don’t need to enable access, connect with notification channels. Everything is reasy in minutes!

Agent-less, Agent-based and hybrid monitoring. In the past, IT monitoring infrastructure was either agent-based or agentless, and IT companies were forced to choose between the two. Now, thanks to innovative new technology, the advantages of agent-based and agentless monitoring can be combined into a single, superior system. Using Monitis, IT organizations can choose the monitoring system that best fits their needs.

Robust. due to the fact that the central server is out of customers promises, customer data center complete outage will be noticed and alerted, while in case of in-house monitoring server crash, disconnect or other issues may stay unnoticed for a long time.

Consolidated View. We deliver external and internal perspectives together. It eliminated needs of multiple tools and not only helps to detect issues, but also to diagnose root cause and also prevent most of failures by monitoring systems health.

Customizable and Extendable. Our architecture is based on SOA, and our services can be managed with the API. It will enable part of our vision MONITOR ANYTHING, by allowing customers to customize our agents and feed any data into our system.

Access from anywhere. Because it is a cloud service, it is available from anywhere, on browser or mobile device.
